Age Rules
· To stay at the pool all day alone patron must be at least 12 years of age, no matter the time.
· All children must pass a swim test to stay at the pool alone regardless of age
· Age for staying in the pool during break : 13
· To use the slide and diving well patron has to be at least six years of age, swim the length of the pool, and tread water for one minute.
· To use the wading pool, patrons must be under six years of age with an accompanying individual who must be 13 or older.
General Rules
Lifeguards have the responsibility of maintaining the pool’s safety and enforcing the pool’s rules. Individuals who do not adhere to the rules will be so advised by the lifeguards. If unacceptable actions or behavior continues, individuals will be asked to get out of the pool. If the behavior continues, the individual will be asked to leave the premises and the incident will be reported to the Lifeguard Manager and the Pool Board. Patrons must respect the authority of the lifeguards at all times.
· Admittance to the pool is allowed only with a member pass or guest passes if the guest is accompanied by a member. The guest pass fee is three dollars but is subject to change throughout the season. If a patron has any questions about guest passes or membership they may call Vicki Santaniello whose number is posted in the office.
· Young children wearing diapers – Acceptable diapers include cloth diapers covered by
plastic/rubber pants or “Swimmies-style” designed especially for swimming. No “Pampers
style” diapers are allowed as they may clog the pool filter. If a child has an accident in the pool,
Fairfax County Regulations require that the pool be closed for 24 hours to allow for complete
filtration of the pool. The pump turnover time is 8 hours but since the chlorine levels have been
raised, the pool cannot be re-opened until regular levels are re-established.
· Use of floaties or other flotation aids for young children must be supervised by someone who is
13 years of age or older. Some flotation devices can cause a youngster to be trapped upside
down in the water.
· Breaks will begin at 50 minutes past the hour and last for ten minutes. This may change due to incredibly hot weather to 45 minutes past the hour and last for 15 minutes.
· The following activities are prohibited: Running on the deck, hanging on pool ropes, hanging on
the basketball rim, eating or drinking in the pool, fighting or rough housing, vulgar or profane
language, spitting, ‘spouting’ water, chewing gum, smoking, alcohol(other than approved
events), sliding headfirst down the slide, glass containers anywhere in the pool complex, no hanging on the slide or diving board, no pushing people into the pool, no kids are ever allowed on any part of the guard chair, no one is allowed in the office but the lifeguards, only one person may go down the slide and diving board at a time and no one can go until the previous person has reached the ladder, no kids in the lap lane, no chicken fights.
· The swim lane nearest the diving area is for lap swimmers only and is not for general use
· Inflatable balls, Nerf balls, throw rings/sticks, and pool basketball may be used in the pool. Use of these items is dependent on the pools occupancy and the lifeguards discretion.
· Rafts are allowed only on Thursday Raft Nights, which begin at 6 P.M. For safety reasons, oversized rafts are prohibited
